Technical Requirements

Offering the best-curated footage catalog in the industry requires us to follow the guidelines that ensure the highest technical quality of the footage. Here are the general technical requirements for uploading footage to the Artlist Footage catalog:

    2K-12K Resolution must be even numbers

    Slow motion (960fps or more) can sometimes be HD as well as Vintage footage.

    To ensure each of your clips is within this range, we suggest shooting in a fixed data rate, and avoid using a variable data rate."

    Audio: No Audio

ACCEPTED DEPENDING ON THE FOOTAGE

There are some exceptions to the technical requirements that depend on the footage that has been submitted. If the footage submitted is in high demand, we might consider accepting materials that do not apply to the requirements listed above. Here is a list of technical specifications we will approve only in special cases:

The following list contains the video specifications we do not accept.
Any story submitted will be canceled if the footage matches the specification on this list, even if its content is in high demand:

  • Aspect Ratio

    Narrower than: 4:3

    Cinemascope wider than: 2.40

  • Resolution

    720p HD

    1080p HD (If the animation submitted is in high demand, we might consider accepting it, but it needs to be 10 bits) 

VERTICAL FOOTAGE

  • Please take note that submitting the same horizontal story in vertical resolution is not allowed.
  • Please submit vertical stories in vertical resolution only, and ensure that each story consists of only one type of clips.

  • Colour Subsampling

    4:2:0 and above

 

  • We don’t accept clips with Audio
  • All clips should contain one shot, and no cuts
  • The file size limit for each clip should be up to 20 GB.
  • RAW is preferable over an ungraded MOV/MXF as long as it fits our Accepted Cameras
  • Exceptions might be made depending on specific case.
  • Resolution must be even numbers
