Backstage: Story Submission

Welcome to Artlist Backstage, our brand-new submission system. This guide will walk you through the process of using Backstage to submit your stories.

Here is a video of the entire process, and below is a step-by-step breakdown:

Step 1: Log in to Your Account

You'll receive an email from no-reply@verificationemail.com providing your login credentials.

Click on the link in the email to access Backstage.

Please avoid copy-pasting the password you've received and type it in instead.

Please note: The password you've received from us is a temporary password that will expire within 30 days of being issued. Please make sure you change it after logging in.

Step 2: Upload Your Graded Footage

Navigate to the home page and click on 'Submit New Story.' From here, you can upload the clips that make up your story. Backstage will automatically check these clips against our basic technical submission requirements. If all clips pass, you can proceed with your story submission. If there are any issues, error messages will guide you to make the necessary adjustments.

Step 3: Upload Your Ungraded Footage

If your story includes ungraded (LOG/RAW) clips, click on '+Add LOG/RAW Files' and add your ungraded files. Ensure that your clips are uploaded in the same order and have a distinct name for each file.

You can re-arrange your files using the two-stripe icon next to each clip's name in order to ensure that your graded and ungraded files match respectively.

To check the progress of your uploads, please refer to  the icon on the top right of your screen (right next to your name)

If your uploads get interrupted at some point in the submission process, the interrupted files will be marked in red, and you will need to reselect them to continue with the upload process.

You can do this in two ways:

You can select each file marked in red individually by clicking the red icon to the right of the title,

or you can click on the "Select Files" button, which will allow you to reselect all the files in bulk and will automatically detect which files need to be re-uploaded. This button appears in the red message box at the top of the "Upload Footage" section.

Step 4: Enter Your Clip's Camera Info

Even though Backstage knows a lot about the files you upload, we still need your input for each clip's camera information. You can edit each clip individually by clicking on the pencil icon on the right -

or edit clips in batch by selecting the clips you want to edit and clicking on 'Edit (X) Clips' in the upper right corner of the Upload Footage window.

Step 5: Enter Your Story Information

Once your clips have passed the automatic checks and you've added camera information, it's time to provide context for your story. Fill out the story information section with all the required details about your story.

Step 6: Add Release File (if Needed)

If any clips in your story require a release file, you'll need to upload it. Please ensure you upload the correct release file for your clips.

Step 7: Submit Your Story

After you've completed all the required steps, hit the 'Submit' button, and your story will be sent to our team for review. Please make sure that your story is ready for review before submitting it, as further changes will not be possible after this point.

Your feedback is important to us and will help us improve Backstage. Feel free to share your thoughts using the Hotjar feedback engine embedded in the platform. Select “Artlist Backstage” as a ticket topic.
