Royalty system
We calculate your share of royalties from the Artlist Footage earning pie. Your cut is 30% of the net revenue from subscription fees, based on the downloads you got from users, and compared to all artists in the Footage pie.
The value of the royalties depends on the plan the user is subscribed to and their total downloads. Let's see how it works on the examples below:
- The value of the royalties depends on the plan that the user is subscribed to
- Example:
- Alex is a user with a Pro plan (higher plan)
- Sam is a user with a Junior plan (lower plan)
They both downloaded the same amount of clips. The value of Alex's downloads is higher than Sam's. Therefore you will earn more royalties for assets downloaded by Alex than for the assets downloaded by Sam.
- The value of the royalties depends on the subscriber's number of downloads
- Example:
Jane and Monica are two subscribers with the same subscription plan.
- Jane downloads 100 assets a year
- Monica downloads 10 assets a year
Monica's downloads will be worth more (i.e., $100 subscription divided by 10 downloads = $10 per download).
Eligible downloads are made by paying subscribers (downloads from trial accounts are not counted towards royalties). Each download that goes towards filmmakers' royalties is unique per user (e.g., multiple downloads of a single clip by a single subscriber are considered as one download).
This royalties model allows us to reward artists precisely, directly reflecting our subscribers' preferences. This way, we can identify the assets that provide value to subscribers and reward artists accordingly.
